The first verse of the first chapter of the first book of the Bible presents a simple but important truth.
The Bible is a unique book - because it is the Word of God
• "In the
beginning, God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1).
Later verses tell us, “The heavens show the work of His hands.” (Psalm 19:1). "His (God's) invisible qualities are known through the things that have been created..." (Romans 1:20) The creation reveals that there is a God, but the creation reveals what God is like, why we are here, what happens after this life.? Doesn't say anything about it. So, it is reasonable to consider that our Creator has not left these questions hopelessly unanswered. That is why He has given us the "Master's Guide" to life which is a unique book known as the Bible.
It is the gift of God to his creation and was written for our learning, so that through patience and the comfort of the Scriptures we may have hope" (Romans 15:4). Our Creator has provided in the Bible everything we need to know in this life while we are on this earth. It is a book that has been read by many, has been published in more languages, and has influenced the world more than any other book written combined. No wonder it is the best-selling book of all time. More than seven billion Bibles since the invention of the printing press. It has been published.
In the following lessons, this study will introduce you to the wonderful mysteries of this unique book written by God, the Bible. You will also learn about Jesus Christ and all that He has done for you. You will also learn how to attain true peace and how to attain liberation.
4. The Bible is a
unique book because of its influence.
There are many
reasons why the Bible is a unique book. One of them is the influence of the
Bible. No other book has had as much impact on human life as the Bible. The
influence of the Bible can be seen in various aspects of our daily life.
How has the
Bible influenced us?
The "seven-day
week" of our modern calendar is based on the Bible. God spent six days
creating and rested on the seventh day.
Saturday is a
holiday. Long ago God commanded that the seventh day, Saturday, be observed as
a day of rest.
Commandments
such as not to kill, not to commit adultery, not to steal, not to lie, and not
to covet were mentioned for the first time in the Bible. All societies and
religions have adopted these commandments as important moral rules.
Eshvi Samvat
(AD) is used all over the world. This Samvat is founded on the birth of Jesus
Christ. For example, the year 2020 shows that it has been
almost 2020 years since the birth of Jesus.
Throughout
history, the Bible has influenced the laws of many nations and societies. In
most nations, there is a basic moral code based on the Bible's Ten
Commandments.
Here are the
words of some great people influenced by the Bible:
·
"Without God and the Bible it is impossible to govern the world
properly." (George Washington, the first president of the United States).
·
"I believe that the best gift God has
given to man is the Bible." (Abraham Lincoln)
·
“If a man is
not acquainted with the Bible, he has suffered a loss, which he had better mended as far as possible. A thorough knowledge of the Bible is more valuable than a
college education.” (Theodore Roosevelt, former President of the United
States).
· “The Bible is not just a book, but a living creature, which has the power to overcome those who oppose it.” (World Conqueror, Napoleon).
These are just a few examples of many sayings.
· Noah Webster
(author of Webster's Dictionary, one of the most famous dictionaries in the
world) said, "Education is useless without the Bible, which lays down the
necessary rules to guide our conduct."
· Even Robert
Charles Winthrop (1809-1894), an American legislator, knew its importance when
he said: Men must be controlled, either by their own power or by an external power, either by the word of God or by the strength of man, either by the Bible
or by arms.”
· A free society
will function properly when its people exercise self-restraint and morality.
The source of all moral rules is the Bible. Horrible Grilli said:
·
“It is
impossible to enslave mentally and socially those who read the Bible. Biblical
principles are the foundation of human freedom.”
So, the Bible says:
·
“Honor Him in
all your ways, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:6).
"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." (Psalm 33: 12).
Finally, The Bible is a unique book of the world because it is the Word of God.
